Tomorrowland

Space Mountain

Age Rating:  Kids and up

Height Requirement is at least 40” or taller.

Space Mountain is probably the premier attraction in Tomorrowland and one of the most unique roller coasters anywhere due to the fact it was one of the first to be built indoors.  Space Mountain was completely refurbished and re-opened in 2005, and the benefit to everyone is a much smoother and updated ride experience.  Having experienced both the previous and current versions of Space Mountain, this current iteration is a much more comfortable ride then the previous chiropractic inducing version.

The new experience of Space Mountain maintains that futuristic feel as you blast off to a perfectly sequenced soundtrack in your headrest choreographed to every exciting dip, curve and blast through the darkness of simulated space.  Expect long lines on high attendance days in Disneyland.  I recommend getting your Fastpass early so you can enjoy the ride without standing in stand by lines an hour long.

Autopia is an all time kid favorite.

All kids want to experience driving a car and Disneyland’s Autopia lets every kid that is at least 52” or taller this fun and exciting opportunity.  Autopia automobiles feature real on demand motor drives through a course that includes realistic roadways, overpasses and even some off road driving along the course.

Autopia is fun for kids of all ages and for the kids that aren’t tall enough to reach the accelerator, an accompanying adult can sit beside the child and take care of the acceleration and let you kids enjoy steering the car around the track.

These cars do allow you to actually steer them and are designed to stay on the course via a center rail along the track that will not allow the cars wheels to move beyond the center rail.  The lines during peak times can be rather long, but due to the number of cars and tracks the lines generally move fairly quickly.

While this attraction is not a ride, it really does have some very interesting things to do and see and is a nice way to cool off or relax for a while.  Innovations is Disneyland’s futuristic view of life and technology.  This attraction is very educational and offers you the views of future products and technology hand on interaction.  Some of the hands-on interaction include virtual reality and multi-media games.  You can also witness one of the most advanced humanoid robots “ASMIO”.   ASMIO will demonstrate what interactions and capabilities he has and how these robots may fit into our homes and lives in the future.

Honey I Shrunk the Audience

This attraction isn’t a ride, but it is a fun demonstration of Disney’s amazing 3-D technologies.  In this theatre adventure, Professor Wayne Szalinski shrinks the audience similar to the other “Honey I Shrunk the Kids” features.  The combination of audio, visual and other special affects make this another entertaining diversion during your Disneyland adventure.
